2008 ICTCM AWARD
Purpose
This award, now in its eleventh year, was established by Pearson Education to recognize an individual or group for excellence and innovation in using technology to enhance the teaching and learning of mathematics.
Eligibility
The recipient(s) must be a full time member of a collegiate mathematics or mathematics education department. Submissions must include: name, school affiliation, address, e-mail address, and phone number for each person nominated for the award. No more than five pages (double-spaced, font size 12) of documentation describing the innovative project/process, including any evidence of the following:
- Complete description of the innovation, including rationale, duration of project, number of students involved, and collaboration by other colleges and universities
- What makes the project/process innovative and how you know it works
- How the innovation is significant, systemic, and transferable
- How this innovation improves a student's understanding of mathematics
- Role of technology in this innovation
- List of scholarship evidence, publications, and presentations related to this innovation
- List of any past grants or funding related to the innovation
Awards
$1000 (US) will be awarded for up to three individuals or groups. The recipients receive ICTCM registration and hotel accommodations for two nights for the award year during the conference. For the group award, the group will designate the recipient of the registration and travel awards, and they will also decide how the money will be distributed.
Where & When
The ICTCM's Executive Steering Committee will select and notify the winners by February 20, 2008. The awards will be presented at the ICTCM March 7, 2008 at the Marriott Rivercenter Hotel, San Antonio,Texas. (ICTCM Executive Steering Committee members are not eligible to apply).
